Garage Door Opener Installation in Ventura

Chain, belt or wall-mount: the right opener depends on the door, the ceiling and what sits above a Ventura garage. Every new one we fit has battery backup, as state law requires.

Which opener fits your garage?

Pick by noise, ceiling space and the door's weight. The four drive types below trade those off differently.

What does California require of a new opener?

Battery backup, for a start. Since July 1, 2019, no one may sell or install a residential automatic opener in the state without a backup that keeps it working in a power outage. Federal rules add a second safety device, usually photo eyes, which the opener must check every time the door closes, and the built-in reversal has to react within two seconds. Anyone servicing an opener in California also has to test reversal against a 2-inch obstacle. LiftMaster says the battery in its built-in units usually lasts one to two years. We install chain, belt and wall-mount openers, mount the sensors and keypads, and program the remotes.

How an opener swap works

Opener installs

Matched to the door it lifts

An opener only steers a door; the springs do the lifting. So the door is checked first, and the opener is chosen around it.

Wall-mount when it fits

Wall-mount units need a torsion-spring door, since they turn the torsion shaft directly.

Quiet where it counts

Belt drives go in where a bedroom sits over or beside the garage.

Rules met on day one

Battery backup, monitored photo eyes and a red manual release within reach.

Old unit removed

The old opener and rail come down and leave with us.

Install questions

New opener questions from Ventura

The drive type, the brand, and whether wiring or a header bracket has to change. Your price is set after we see the garage.
Only if you want the ceiling clear, and only on a torsion-spring door, because a wall-mount unit turns the torsion shaft directly instead of pulling the door along a rail.
LiftMaster puts it at one to two years in its built-in units, depending on use.
If the door is balanced and in good shape, yes. An unbalanced door wears out a new opener fast, so we test it first and tell you if the springs need work.
Yes. That is the use both LiftMaster and Genie point it at.
Every opener built for the US market since 1993 needs a second entrapment device on top of its built-in reversal. Photo eyes near the floor are the usual one; an edge sensor is the other common choice.
